ICSI is one of the in-vitro fertilization techniques that involve collection of eggs & sperms. Process of ICSI involves injecting a single sperm directly into the cytoplasm of a mature egg with the help of fine needle.

WHEN TO CONSIDER ICSI?

Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection is recommended in case of sever male fertility issues like low sperm count, poor motility, abnormal morphology, anti-sperm antibodies, vasectomy. One might consider ICSI if previously had failed fertilization from IVF, unexplained infertility, hormonal imbalances.

HOW MANY SPERMS ARE NEEDED FOR ICSI?

In ICSI procedure, only one sperm is enough for one egg. In patients of Oligospermia, good numbers of sperm are retrieved from semen sample, collected on the day of Ovum Pickup.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IVF AND ICSI?

Main difference between IVF and ICSI is the Fertilization technique of both procedures. ICSI is an advanced technology where every single sperm is injected into each egg for fertilization. While, in IVF sperms and eggs are allowed to fertilize in a dish.
