Micro-Tese, or Microsurgical Testicular Sperm Extraction, is a specialized procedure designed to detect and retrieve sperm in men experiencing low or abnormal sperm production. This technique represents a significant advancement in male infertility treatments, particularly for men with Azoospermia, by enhancing sperm retrieval rates.
When addressing infertility, various diagnostic and therapeutic options are available. These include semen analysis, which evaluates sperm count, motility, and morphology, as well as advanced procedures like Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
How is the Micro-Tese Procedure Performed?
Micro-Tese is performed under spinal or general anesthesia, making it a painless procedure due to its minimally invasive nature. During the procedure, a Micro Dissecting Microscope is used to examine the testicles and identify active, sperm-producing tubules. A very small volume of testicular tissue is extracted and immediately analyzed under a microscope. The testes are then closed with fine sutures. This is a daycare procedure, allowing patients to be discharged the same day.
